VRAM Calculator
Estimate how much video memory your settings need at your resolution, including texture quality and ray tracing.
Rough VRAM by resolution (High textures)
| Resolution | Raster | With ray tracing |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p | 6 – 8 GB | 8 – 10 GB |
| 1440p | 8 – 10 GB | 10 – 12 GB |
| Ultrawide 1440p | 9 – 11 GB | 12 – 14 GB |
| 4K | 10 – 14 GB | 14 – 18 GB |
Frequently asked questions
- What happens when VRAM runs out?
- The driver spills data over the PCIe bus to system memory. Average FPS may barely move while frame times spike badly, which reads as stutter and pop-in textures.
- Does upscaling save VRAM?
- Yes. The game renders at a lower internal resolution, so every frame buffer shrinks — though texture memory stays the same.
